Great episode again! I love people's reactions when they find out that you can be an aid worker in the field and actually enjoy your life a little bit. They feel they have been betrayed or something ;-)
BTW I was writing some paper for my studies recently and came across with one interesting article about psychological defense mechanism of humanitarian aid workers, working in tough conditions in Africa: - overwork and burnout; - detachment; -transference; - reality distortion, I think in Kosovo we mostly dealing with the last 3 :-)
s and m and their friends are working in Kosovo. They say they came to this remote part of South Eastern Europe to promote human rights, strengthen the rule of law and embed democratic practices in the public and civil life but… most of the time they have no clue what they are talking about.
They are good chaps though, and they have a very smart and very wise duck!
